Video compression, checked

Compress video files

Drop a file. We shrink it, then check the result against your original before the download button appears.

Output is 1080p at most: 4K sources are scaled down to 1080p. Frame rate and length stay the same. Need the original resolution? See Project archive.

Checked, not hoped

Duration and the first frame are compared with your original, and the file must meet a standard playback level. A failed check means no download and no charge.

Start without an account

Three files a day, up to 1 GB each. Sign in with an email code for ten a day and 5 GB per file.

Charged only for results

Files we cannot process, and jobs that fail, cost nothing. Credits return automatically.

How it works

  1. Upload. Your file goes from your browser straight to storage, not through a web server, so large files do not time out.
  2. Compress. The engine measures the clip and picks encoder settings to match what is in it.
  3. Check. The result is compared with your original. Only a result that passes is offered for download.

Want to know what changes? Picture size stays up to 1080p and larger pictures are scaled down. Frame rate and length stay the same. Read the details in the video compressor guide.

Made for editors too

Editing proxies

A 1080p working copy that keeps timecode, reel name, frame rate and every audio channel, so it relinks to your camera originals.

Project archive

Smaller masters at the original resolution and frame rate. A file counts as done only when every check passes.

Questions

Is it free?

Yes, to start. Without an account you can compress 3 files a day, each up to 1 GB. With a verified email it is 10 files a day, each up to 5 GB. Beyond that, files use credits.

Do you keep my videos?

Files are kept only long enough to run the job and let you download the result. Download links expire after 24 hours. The Privacy Policy has the details.

What if my file cannot be processed?

You get a clear message, you are not charged, and we record the file type so we can add support.

Will the result look worse?

Compression removes data, so a result is never identical to the original. Settings are chosen per clip to keep the loss out of sight, and the result is checked against the original. Keep the original until you have used the result.
